About the set:
War Paint items are BoE world drops from creatures between approximately level 14 and 24. Searching the AH regularly is probably the best way to locate them.
There are also War Paint shoulders which match the appearance of the set, but they are a Common (white) quality item, and as such cannot be transmogrified. You can view them here.

The alternative fist weapons you listed are actually a better option, unless you have the epic ones of course.
