Sunreaver Guardian Mage

Sunreaver Guardian Mage

Armor Type: Cloth
Level Req.: 70 for the armor pieces, 80 with the tabard
Source: BoP instance drops
Availability: Will likely require multiple weeks of raiding to complete the outfit

How to get the set:
The Sunreaver Guardian Mage outfit is really an amalgamation of the Mage Tier 5 Tirisfal Recolour and the Red Sunwell Cloth Set with alternative Mage-specific extras.

Gathering the set will take a while and requires assistance, as it is mostly comprised of BoP boss drops from both Tempest Keep and Sunwell Plateau. On top of this, the tabard requires you to achieve exalted with The Sunreavers faction, which takes a lot of time. That said, if you’re going to dress up as a Sunreaver, you might as well be in good standing with them!

The only item we were unable to perfectly match to the Guardian Mages in-game, is the chestpiece. There are two robes using the same colouration, Robes of Ghastly Hatred and Sunfire Robe, but none that cover the torso only, hence the tabard as a place filler.

HeadCowl of the Grand Engineer (BoP drop from Void Reaver in Tempest Keep: The Eye, at a 14% drop rate)

Was liked to your site yesterday, and while I’m not a roleplayer, I’ve always loved the in-game sets and your blog posts have been amazingly handy!

Will you be doing an Alliance-equivalent for this set? I always liked the Silver Covanent’s mage-guard appearance, really great use of blues. 🙂

Hello and thanks for the positive feedback! We have drawn up a list of the items to replicate a Silver Covenant member, but we put that one on the back burner for now. As it’s exclusively available to mages and because Silver Covenant guards are High Elves, the look isn’t fully replicable, so we decided to prioritise other articles. Nevertheless, if you’d like us to put it together into an article, we’ll happily do so.

Darn that lack of high elves for the alliance! 🙂 Nonetheless, thanks for the reply!

Certainly no rush on my part (my main’s a paladin), but I look forward to seeing it in the distant future. 🙂

OK, I’ve identified the Silver Covenant gear as the lvl70 Merciless Gladiator’s gear. The problem: on females, the chest armor comes across as a robe, obscuring the legs. The actual SG Guardian Mages are all wearing pants. Anyone know of chest gear that doesn’t do this?

I found that pairing a Flameheart Vest ( ) with an Ebon Filigreed Doublet from Dalaran also matches very well.
