Ironforge Guard
Armor Type: Plate
Level Req.: 77
Source: Mostly BoE world drops, a quest reward and a vendor item
Availability: Alliance only but rather easy to get
How to get the set:
For the axe, checking the four vendors regularly should yield it rather fast, as for the Grimscale set, it may take a while due to the sheer quantity of items. Checking the AH regularly is the best bet.
If you have done the quest for the shield, it might be a tough call, since this shield is the only one sharing looks with the real Ironforge guard’s shield.
The helmet can be a challenge given that people will often vendor it and not put it on the AH, so there is a chance you will need to farm for it yourself. There is another helmet with the same model, Horned Viking Helmet, but it is only available to members of the Horde, which is somewhat sub-optimal for a would-be Ironforge guard!
Head – Frost-Worn Plate Helmet (low quality world and instance drop in Northrend)
Shoulder – Grimscale Pauldrons (BoE world drop)
Shirt – Red Swashbuckler’s Shirt (crafted by most tailors)
Chest – Grimscale Armor (BoE world drop)
Gloves – Grimscale Gauntlets (BoE world drop)
Waist – Grimscale Belt (BoE world drop)
Legs – Grimscale Legguards (BoE world drop)
Feet – Grimscale Sabatons (BoE world drop)
Wrists – Grimscale Vambraces (BoE world drop)
Mainhand – Callous Axe (Held by certain alliance vendors at the quantity of 1)
Off-hand – Royal Treasury Courier’s Shield (Quest reward from The Mosshide Job in Wetlands)
Alternatives:
If the above shoulders aren’t to your taste, you can try the following:
Shoulder – Field Plate Pauldrons (BoE world drop)
This is how an Ironforge Guard looks in the game:

Heads up, the Field Plate armor actually works FAR better, with the Ironforge Breastplate a good match.
-Drill Sergeant of the Ironforge Guard Hvitingr Blazehammer
Off-hand – Dwarven Defender is no longer available, but the Royal Treasury Courier’s Shield (http://www.wowhead.com/item=59097) is the exact same model. It is from the quest “The Mosshide Job” (http://www.wowhead.com/quest=25865)
Better to use Field Plate Pauldrons as Shoulders, and Ironforge Tabard as an extras. Also Horned Viking Helm is obtainable only through Horde Side, sadly.

Thanks, we’ve updated the article with the help from the comments now.
I’ve also forgot to add some things; There is also another aleternative for Shoulders: Jazeriant Pauldorns (http://www.wowhead.com/item=9904/jazeraint-pauldrons) We use those for new Guard recruits, incase we don’t have Field Plate Pauldrons in stock.
As the head, there is also another worn head named Bleached Plate Helmet (http://www.wowhead.com/item=62134/bleached-plate-helmet), it only gives more armour then level 77 one.
Though I’ve recently seen that Reaver Helmet(http://www.wowhead.com/item=24978/reaver-helmet)looks like Ironforge Guard one in-game, though the model viewer in WoW shows it’s a black one. I’ve tried it open in WoW Model Viewer and it also looks like the Ironforge Guard one, but I’ll tell if that is true once I get my hands on it. Though you can check here and see it for yourself: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/defias-brotherhood/Aethena/simple
I see what you mean, the helmet shows as the Ironforge Guard helmet on the character, but when viewed through any viewer it’s black.
Would be great if this is not a temporary glitch, because then this guard outfit could be mogged!
just use this helmet (if your alliance)

the helmet u have linked is mail..
It’s a suitable roleplay option though, as with the grey item we listed in the article. There are no perfect matches for the IF Guard headpiece which are both plate and transmogrifiable.
